Mayor fue la sorpresa cuando vi que la gente en la sala comenzó a ponerse de pie haciendo honor esta canción, algunos con la mano en el corazón, y otros, incluso lo tarareaban tímidamente. Tal vez era lo que se suponía que se debía hacer, (me declaro totalmente desconocedora de protocolos de días feriados-cine, etc…), pero realmente me sorprendió ver esta situación en un país, al que considero patriota solo cuando la selección de fútbol gana un partido(creo la última vez que vi a alguien parado por el himno fue también en el estadio).
Por un momento fue como volver a la escuela, recordé que me encantaba el himno, ja! sobretodo la parte de «tiranos temblad», «tiranos temblad» era como la banda de sonido de una película de suspenso, (aunque no entendía muy bien cual parte de cuerpo sería la «blime» que se inflamaba cuando en realidad decía «sublime inflamó») lo cierto era que me gustaba. Lo bueno de esa época de la vida es, entre otras cosas, que el nivel de prejuicios es mucho menor, me gustaba el himno y chau, no se si sería la música, o si era que cuando lo cantábamos no estábamos en clase…que se yo…
Al día de hoy, la historia de nuestro país ha logrado que los símbolos patrios sean, a veces, mal vistos por los mismos uruguayos.
